To be honest Angela many Chiswick residents are 'clued up' on development plans and such like, what I would say is that the only mechanism of the Localism Act that really benefits local people (IMHO) is the ability to draw up a neighbourhood plan. Indeed it remains a source of bemusement to me why intelligent, clued up people pursue ludicrous legal challenges (such as the Empire House challenge) which seems to be being pursued with little understanding of the areas such a challenge can and can't be made against, yet mechanisms like producing a neighbourhood plan seem to be completely ignored. As I learnt a long time ago it's always easiest for residents to point the finger of blame at the relevant Council... |
