TfL have today made the following comments (in response to LBH's Head of Traffic & Transport): "There should [have] been no traffic being diverted via Thames Road to Kew Bridge, we are however aware that last weekend there were issues with the area and we are looking at the best ways to mitigate against this for the coming weekend. We are currently planning to place additional signage at the entrance to A316 from Hogarth roundabout, including coning off the right hand lane as you enter the A316 and to further emphasis the fact that the road is closed further along, signage will include ‘Access to North side of Chiswick Bridge ONLY’ and;Strictly Local Access ONLY’. I will also instruct the contractor to place additional signage between Hogarth and Chiswick Bridge for adjoining traffic advising them to join the diversion route for A316 towards Twickenham. We will also place signage at Hartington Road junction and ensure the security guard / marshals are re-briefed regarding the directing of vehicles, they should be sending them by the official diversion route. I am confident this approach should help reduce the impact on Thames Road and welcome any further recommendations if you have any..."
