I was down there yesterday taking photos for our newsletter and I spoke to the security bloke on the barrier. The good news is that the lights (at least at 11am) weren't creating too much queuing up the A316, the bad news being that they were funnelling traffic straight on to Hartington Rd and then Thames Road, with a repeat of Saturday's chaos. The further bad news is that the security guy had no inkling that they were creating a traffic jam further down the line. My suggestion to him was that they advise people heading to Richmond to turn back to the Hogarth Roundabout as well as telling them to divert from Hartington Rd in front of St Paul's Church, to turn right down Grove Park Road, over the railway bridge, back up Sutton Court Road and left down the A4 to Chiswick Roundabout. Of course if TfL had had a great big sign at Hogarth Roundabout saying 'No Through Road to Richmond - use Chiswick Roundabout', and another one at the start of Hartington Road saying 'Traffic congestion ahead - consider returning to the A4' that might have helped. |
