I had the same problem with my iPad last week. It then happened with my iPhone. I am with Virgin and have a blueyonder email address. I managed to resolve the problem with the iPad by calling Virgin but had to go to the Apple Store for the iPhone. It was all to do with my password suddenly becoming too short and involved deleting the account and reinstating it with a longer password. Hope this is helpful.
