I have called the number on the flyer this morning: 020 8583 5555 and told them that we received our new wheelie bin today. I let them know that it protrudes over our bay window by at least a foot so our view from our sofa now includes, in part, a wheelie bin. I have asked to opt out of the scheme but made it crystal clear that we fully expect the council to collect and dispose of our two small rubbish bags, which we put out after 7am on collection day, as normal. They have an obligation to collect our rubbish each week as we pay our taxes like everyone else and unless they can provide suitable wheelie bins (small enough not to protrude over our front bay window and over our garden walls) then we will not be having one in our front garden. I made it VERY clear that we fully expect our rubbish to be collected each week as normal until the council can provide a suitable alternative for the enormous bins that were dropped in our garden paths this morning. So if you don't want these enormous things lining your road, please do the same. If enough people call, they just might get the message. |
