No royalty but there is a Royal Park at Kew and Prince Charles is a patron. The tower will be visible from many parts of the park. I suspect Hounslow Council having argued that the Brentford Stadium development will not be visible from Kew will now claim that the Gateway Tower should now go ahead because the towers of the enabling development will already be visible and will partly mask the larger tower i.e. you can't seek to protect a view that has already been spoiled.
We may find out who is behind this scheme when planning permission is applied for but the strong suspicion is that it is Arab oil money which is probably good news as they would be responsive to a letter from Prince Charles which, as Julian has very helpfully pointed out, worked in the case of Chelsea Barracks. |
