The lack of any comment on this is somewhat surprising. When I first read about the project I thought it was alarmist nonsense as there was no way anybody would have a chance of getting it built. Now as more details emerge it appears the story is genuine and before the end of the year Galliard will present this for planning permission. They are probably already in discussion with Hounslow Council about the best way to present the scheme. Given that the tower appears to have been tacitly endorsed by the Council in its big promo for the Golden Mile there is every reason to believe that the developers have been emboldened to propose such a high tower by the encouragement of the Council. The latest building at Chiswick Business Park is visible from where I live and is a mildly intrusive blot on the skyline but not something I get too upset about. Although Gateway Tower is over half a mile away I would imagine it will loom a lot larger on the horizon for many more people in the W4 area that can see the closer office developments. On the evidence of this forum locals seem to have more important things to worry about. |
