Well, for the sake of balance, I can confirm he was also identified as the distributor of an anonymous leaflet in Park and Staveley Roads during the CPZ consultation period, accusing the Grove Park Group as being responsible for a separate leaflet by the mysterious 'Grove Park Protection Society', which quoted Satnam Sahota's prediction of loss of Park / Staveley parking spaces. The GPG wasn't actually involved, although Jan Shawe of the 'Park Road & Staveley Road Residents Association' then claimed authorship of the Chivers leaflet (hope you're following all this) and tried to get the contents posted on ChiswickW4.com. As it happens, on behalf of the GPG, I had already forwarded both leaflets to the ChisW4 editor, enquiring about the provenance of the twain. Neither David nor Jan chose to apologise for the unattributed misrepresentation of the GPG; perhaps they didn't believe me when I said the GPG don't dish out anonymous leaflets. There was such widespread unhappiness at the 2-road only consultation that it could have been any one of the 200 people that crammed St. Paul's Church in March 2013. But the 'Grove Park Protection Society' was and remains a mystery. Perhaps, like Zorro or King Arthur, they will re-emerge in GP in its hour of need. But it does rather illustrate the sort of conflict engendered between neighbours that Martine Oborne is highlighting, and why these issues should be looked at holistically. |
