At the risk of being deluged with emails I would be grateful if residents in Chiswick Riverside Ward would copy me in on any emails reporting pot holes to Hounslow Highways. Photos would be much  appreciated. This will allow me to monitor progress and see if any trends are emerging.

The Hounslow Highways website informs us that;

"To ensure that budgets are contained within their allocation, it is necessary to objectively assess the severity, nature and location of defects to determine if repairs are necessary."

Frankly the logic in this sentence is deeply flawed - we can all, I would hope agree, that "it is necessary to objectively assess the severity, nature and location of defects to determine if repairs are necessary". However If budgets are insufficient to repair existing potholes then this means that the contract signed with Vinci-Ringway was not up to the job. 

The whole point of the PFI contract was to reduce reactive "hand to mouth" maintenance work to a minimum by raising the standard of all roadways across the Borough.

Concerns were expressed that problems might arise late in the contract when surfaces had deteriorated and funds were short - but at this stage in the contract there really are no valid excuses.
