Pharma corportaions such as Pfizer have invested billions of pounds in Statins and they are possibly the most expensive item on the NHS budget.. GP's have been advised by the drug companies to get blood cholesterol levels down to below 5 (the jury is out on this and indeed lower cholesterol levels in the elderly (ie 3) may well be unhealthy..
