I suggest the first thing to do is to find out if it is worth getting a remark of her gcse for this year. She needs to know the exam board and the specific syllabus code. She also needs the grade boundaries and her own score so she can see how close she is to the C boundary. If she is within a few marks of a C it's worth trying for the remark. Here is a link to the edexcel boundaries, the most popular board: http://pastpapers.edexcel.com/content/dam/pdf/Support/Grade-boundaries/GCSE/1406_GCSE_Grade_Boundaries_v5.pdf If she can't find her score etc it's worth a punt getting a remark anyway although this can go down as well as up though in her case her previous D would stand if her current grade fell. The school should be able to help with this but if not go direct to the exam board, she will need her candidate number. Someone who gets a D should be able to go up to at least a C with some support. She made need a tutor or some other help. Unfortunately almost all uni's will require a minimum of c in maths to access their courses (unlike o level days). |
