I am sorry to say that this week has been a tragic one with regards to cats in Strand on the Green. We lost our beloved four year old cat Charlie on Saturday morning when a driver on Hartington Road mowed her down without stopping. She was killed outright and it was only due to a couple of lovely passers by who took the time to get my nunber off her collar that we knew what happened. This was devastating to us only to be made worse by the events that took place on Wednesday. A friend of ours owned a beautiful black cat, again only four years old who was brought to us by a caring neighbour who found her in her back garden. The poor cat had suffered a broken back and her back legs were paralysed and she was in a lot of pain. Some person had put her over a garden wall in this state and left her there. Thanks to the kindly neighbour who brought her round wrapped in a blanket, but there was nothing that could be done and she was put to sleep. I would urge all drivers along Thames Road and Hartington Road (and indeed any road) to keep their speed down and be careful of our feline friends, because rest assured there are two families devastated by their loss this week. But a big thanks must be given to those who took the time to contact us about the incidents that took place and we are so grateful to those who care.
