| True Stewart, but then again some people would argue that smokers shouldn't expect the NHS to look after them, so it would be completely contrary to everything else if people who had chosen not to vaccinated were declined medical treatment. In a similar vein, where's the 'justice' in someone like me who through hard work has a business that generates over £50k a year and battles their way through covid without any support, whilst there's been millions of employees and the self-employed receiving either furlough money or up to £31k in 'freebies' in SEISS ?. I agree with you about 'freedom day', it's a misnomer and it'll make very little if any difference to my days or nights. But personally at some point to me one has to say "enough is enough" and, perhaps in a warped way, I can see the logic of doing so at a time when infections are rising, because we'll be able to establish whether there's suddenly an explosion of cases resulting from those further relaxations or not. I would add that 3 weeks ago I was in the Czech Republic for a week (not on holiday - indeed I would have been prevented from flying at the gate had it been for pleasure)_and to some extent there it was a complete free for all in terms of both restrictions imposed and also how people conducted themselves, and yet their infection rates haven't (as yet) shot up again. I still personally think the biggest influence on covid is how people live, I had the 'pleasure' of spending some time last week in Walthamstow and Woolwich town centres undertaking survey work, and suffice to say I'm very happy that I don't live in the built-up part of a big city anymore. |
