| Jacqueline makes a fair point. I'm double jabbed, my Mrs. has had neither, primarily because she shares the same concerns as Jacqueline. I'm double jabbed simply because I think it's a necessity to be able to enable me to have a normal life going forward, and because I personally regard the stories about people dying or becoming seriously ill after having a jab the same way I treat people scaremongering about the crowds at Wembley yesterday or such like. As I keep saying to my Mrs., she's going to have to have the vaccine soon because otherwise I'll be taking somebody else skiing this winter. So I'd be lying if I said that I've had my jabs for any reason other than my own selfish interests, nothing else, and I really don't buy this notion that other people do so out of some deep seating care for the rest of the human race. We've already delayed 'freedom day' by a month and for me it's time to let everyone out to play and what will be will be. Yes, there will be a minority of inconsiderate idiots, but there always are no matter what (in every walk of life), and the rest of us shouldn't have our lives dictated by the actions of a minority. If people don't feel safe to go out, or go to work, then well, to be blunt that's just tough - after 15 months of maintaining a business without any government support I'm damned if Joe Bloggs who has been sat at home furloughed for the last year is going to preach to me. Show me one country that has succeeded in dealing with covid, how can anyone credibly sing the praises of New Zealand or Australia when they're locking down big chunks of the population again because of a tiny cluster of cases, all because their vaccination programmes are so poor ?. If infection rates here are surging (and I'm not convinced at this moment in time that we are going to get to anything like 100k new cases) but deaths and hospitalisations are remaining low then that's as good as it can get in the circumstances. Not it's not ideal, but as I keep saying what is the workable alternative ?. |
