Imperfect, but I keep pointing back at the only independent evidence I can find, which shows NHS is the second cheapest health system in the developed world and the est by miles for patient satisfaction (though the survey was in 2010, before the destruction began). It's bleeding obvious that the admin could be improved (that was the idea behind the barking IT overhaul initiated by the Blair government - well-meaning but hopeless in conception and execution) and it's also clear that there are holes in the care. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. The US system, the model for a lot of these 'reforms', costs 4 times as much per citizenn as the NHS and delivers only to part of the population. And it has its own major issues, even to those who are covered, though it also has some strengths. |
