According to the Daily Telegraph: 'New rules opening the NHS to more competition from private health firms are set to be withdrawn just two weeks after they were announced, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.... Earlier this month, the government published regulations banning “any restrictions” that are “not necessary” on allowing private and voluntary groups to compete to run taxpayer-funded healthcare services. However, an outcry from medical groups, MPs and campaigners against privatisation in the NHS has forced a re-think, which government sources said was likely to result in the regulations being revoked.'
