I have had locks cut off in the US (when customs do this they put a note in your bag explaining that they are entitled under law to open any bag) so now don't lock suitcases. When my bag had locks cut off it came out later than other bags as I assume it was loaded later, so your theft could have happened at either end. Always worth following up losses with both airline and BAA. Good luck! |
