Well yes and no. I am totally against the Council removing posters on street furniture for lost pets. However, legally such displays are unauthorised. And the Council can't win, we may all be of the same view, but I guarantee you there's some people in the Borough, who pay their Council Tax just like you, and they will be pushing the Council to take action against such things. I remember the times I'd be at my desk with my Team buried in genuine/serious planning enforcement complaints, and people would ring up about the most trivial matters and when I used to gently try to say "don't you think the Council has more important things to worry about, listen to yourself getting so worked up about something 90% of the Borough doesn't give two hoots about" they'd tell me in no uncertain terms that under the relevant legislation I had to devote resources to investigating their complaint etc. That's why I don't believe in localism - people don't want the same things no matter how much we might think they do. |
