The problem is demand from an overcrowding air space. And its more down to what Airlines want rather than the airport owners. Gatwick has lost many long haul flights i believe to cater for the lower budget airlines and become a more predominant airport for European destinations. That leaves Stansted Airport or Heathrow. I believe that these Airlines want Heathrow as choice of operations for certain routes. This becomes i believe demand from the Airlines which in return puts pressure on BAA and Heathrow as the choice for the South East and not the other two. |
