Much as I would have appreciated drinking cool Pride on a hot Summer day whilst watching the Olympics, the only way it will happen is in the pub! As everyone has said, it's about who will pay the most for being able to advertise their products. Fact; Lager will be more acceptable to the widest international audience. I was at the World Cup in Germany, and the official beer was Budweiser. What an insult to a Country that brews fine lagers but, like Fullers, the best are relatively small brewers with insufficient marketing clout. There were stalls around the stadiums, and they were inundated with fans wanting decent beer, not the Bud-piss available inside. No doubt, Fullers will take advantage of the marketing opportunity to be the 'Unofficial beer of London's Olympics', and it means they won't have to pay anything to the any of the parasitic organisations associated with the Games.
