I have looked into how the place will be run, etc. Firstly, the plot is currently owned by Hounslow Council. The Council are selling the plot to Shepherd's Bush Housing Association (Subject to planning consent). If planning consent is granted by the Council, the sale goes ahead. The Council has provisionally been given grant funding to assist with the redevelopment. After 18 months of construction chaos we will have our 26 young person homeless hostel. It will be run by Shepherd's Bush Housing Association. Ignoring the fact that it is an unsightly monolith and ignoring the fact that it is too large a development for the plot, what REALLY concerns me is that the decision making process is conflicted... The Council stand to gain financially when they sell the property (subject to planning consent being granted) and the Council are responsible for granting planning consent... It does not seem particularly fair and perhaps goes some way to explain the complete absence of any local consultation... |
