I'd endorse Sarah and Hilary's comments. Our daughters are in Y11 and 12 at CCS and , although this is a personal response I'm also a parent governor at the school, so I have seen at first hand how much effort has gone in to make the improvements which are now starting to show and which the school can build on. Picking up on Clare's specific comments I don't think it's possible to get away from the fact that the school site which is , quite rightly, used a lot by the community, is showing its age and not always in the best condition but I really hope that any parent thinking about the school doesn't take that as a sign of a lack of commitment to teaching and learning or pastoral care of the students by the school. We have seen a lot of changes for the better at the school and, overall we've been really pleased both in terms of academic outcome and the personal qualities it has brought out in our children and their contemporaries. I appreciate that the choice of secondary school is a very personal decision and it's not for everyone but I'd really encourage anyone who might be put off by the appearance of the site to visit and talk to the team at the school as well as discussing with the headteacher of their primary school(which we found invaluable). Hope this is useful. |
