| Well it's high time that a lot of people learnt to cook or put together simple nutritious meals for themselves! A whole new group of youngsters will be going off to university soon but will they be as good at coming up with a healthy meal out of the contents of a store cupboard and/or what is left in the fridge as they are at ordering online?! They also need to learn about the storage of food. It was very impressive a few years ago to experience what the students of a local west London cookery school came up with when catering with store cupboard essentials and the delivery of donated supermarket overstocked and unsold fresh food when we were visiting a local homelessness charity. We all need to have a repertoire of healthy and easy go-tos and inspiration to make a meal to fall back on in the cupboard. Restaurants do get raided every so often but it is more complicated than that. I think we would all need to have ID cards matching whatever we were riding or driving. Perhaps we should all be microchipped too. Remember this country is actually made up of immigrants - the Vikings, Romans and Normans who raided and conquered us are all part of our DNA. Peoples were migrating across continents in biblical times. And where exactly would WE go if we needed to migrate? What if sea level rise and weather change made our farming impossible and there was no higher level to move to? Who would be kind and generous enough to take us in? We are ALL part of one world! It is the only one we have. |
