It hasn't been officially confirmed that they now have the lease for the Poundland unit but I've heard that this is the case both from staff and people involved in commercial property in Chiswick. Even if they have that doesn't mean that the will be closing the shop any time soon. As pointed out earlier they sat on the Putney High Street lease for seven years and kept the unit vacant. They could just be locking in the leases to ensure that they can control which shops are positioned next to them. Maybe they don't like the fact that they have a Poundland next door although I would have thought it brings more customers to them than it discourages. They would need the freehold or the agreement of the freeholder to knock through to the units either side. As far as I am aware, they don't own the freehold of either building. |
