As far as I can work out the strike action, at least as far as trains within London is concerned doesn't start until 6pm on Christmas Eve. That is for booking on so drivers will still be available for later trains. Striking on Christmas Day and Boxing Day makes no difference because there are no trains. The 'strike' must be symbolic and have something to do with resetting the clock for when the next ballot is needed. I hear a lot about modernisation but rarely any specifics - can someone give examples of what changes would be necessary on local train operating companies such as South Western and Great Western? |
