"But the changes that have been made are not always perfect" Please show me any engineering project that delivers "perfection"! Every project ends up being a compromise. "It's not perfect" becomes yet another objection. You could see that with the original CW9 plans that took some space from pavement and there were calls of 'Don't take space from pavement, take it from the road!'. Then along comes the temporary design which doesn't take space from pavement but takes it from the road and there are then complaints about that as well. I can confidently predict that any design that reallocated any space for cycling would have received objections. The most objections would have been for a cycle lane along both sides of CHR because that would have had the most impact of any of the possible designs for a protected bike lane there. |
