I think that it depends on your motivation for participation in the trial. If it's simply to help science, then you should continue with the trial - if people start pulling out, for whatever reason, it will undermine the results of the trial. Okay, one person won't make much difference, but if lots of people do so on that basis, then it would mount up. If on the other hand the motivation for participation was the possibility of getting a vaccine early, then the first thing to do is to make sure that your understanding is correct. To me, it doesn't sound right - the NHS probably doesn't know that you're in the trial, so I don't see that they could limit it to one jab. And it would surely be unethical to only offer you just one jab of the Pfizer or AZ anyway. If you've had the plaebo, then you need both jabs. If you've had the real thing, noone knows at this stage whether that would boost the efficacy of the AZ or Pfizer jab so that you only need one. Are you sure that what you're being offered is just one - or is it actually the first one of the two jab sequence? |
