I am now in the seventh week since my first jab, the Pfizer one. I don't think Pfizer have endorsed the UK government's decision to extend the waiting time for Jab 2 to up to 12 weeks, and some medical body recently advised a maximum of 6 weeks, I seem to recall. On Friday I went to the Health Centre to ask about the present position there, and found the hall all set up for vaccinations. Ever hopeful, I asked at the desk, but was told I would have to wait the full 12 weeks Fair enough, if you accept that as many people as possible should be protected by the first jab as soon as possible, but aren't we building up a future crisis? Surely the number of first jabs daily is bound to fall when it becomes urgent to administer the second dose to all those given the first one early? And as we go down the age range, there will be greater numbers of those in line for the first jab, as there are more of them than in the older cohorts? |
