There is masses of room in the park for the pitch and putt to coexist with the bowling green ... if there was the goodwill. Why does it have to be one or the other? I have not heard anyone, apart from the CIC, say 'yes, it must be destroyed'. Everyone agrees it's a valuable amenity, especially, but not solely, for the older generation, with a long tradition, which should be kept and cherished, not wantonly, unjustifiably and needlessly destroyed. CIC, I'm sure you read the newsletters, you must see the tide of sympathy and support there is for the green to be kept. Why don't you listen to the community whose interests you're supposed to hold paramount in your decisions? And by the way, how many people use the new tennis courts? I very seldom see anyone there... But I doubt you'd say that was grounds for killing off tennis in the park. |
