I tend to think that the high street started to change and struggle the very day C&A started to withdraw from the UK and many others followed or struggled while tech advanced and the discounts moved in. I personally find it hard to see how CHR caters for most unless you want a coffee or something to eat or maybe desperate for something quick from Robert Dyas because you cant wait 24hrs for it to be delivered. What shop draws in young ladies in CHR to spend money ? You are not going to go shopping somewhere when you can only come back with a quarter of what you needed. Shopping on your mobile phone be it ordering food,ordering an Uber or just shopping for some trainers is growing and will continue to grow. Unless you cater for all ages and cater across a wide variety of products the consumer will go elsewhere. Chiswick has for a very long time failed to cater for the mass and the modern way of shopping would always be very hard for W4 to survive. |
