The whole of the north west meadow of Gunnersbury Park has now been fenced off with 6 ft high barriers. That is, the area bounded by Popes Lane to the North and Lionel Road North, to the west. People are now restricted to walking along the perimeter path. An unsigned opening has been left at the Popes Lane entrance so that people can enter this large enclosure. However as there is no indication of where they can exit, except come back the same way this is of little help. In fact its possible to leave by the children's playground for one, but this isn't obvious until you're right up close and as I said no notices have been posted or information provided of any kind. Unlike the PR waffle on the posters plastered everwhere. The Lovebox events are schedules for the middle of July, almost 8 weeks away. While the Secret Cinema enclosure is supposedly at the southern end of the park. The fact that the "diagrams" of the Secret Cinema enclosure don't actually indicate its size in relation to the Park as a whole, as with this latest fencing off - the secrecy and lack of really useful information rather than PR waffle, to me simply shows the contempt in which LBE and LBH actually hold everyday users of Gunnersbury Park. However the fact that nobody appears to have made a fuss about this fencing - or questioned its appearance, the installation was well under way last Wednesday, on this forum at least, might indicate that their judgement on this matter is largely vindicated. michael adams |
