Unfortunately neither of those links, with which many people will already be familiar, provide an actual plan of the Park as a whole; and the impact this sports hub will have overall. Talk of numerous pitches cuts little ice I'm afraid with those of us who can remember a time when over winter at least that north west corner was covered in football pitches; a veritable mini Hackney Marshes in fact. While the more fortunate were afforded the benefit of the flatter ground at the bottom for their rugby pitches. Not to mention that a perfectly good cricket pitch already existed, serviced by a pavilion which was allowed to rot away through sheer neglect. But then of course there are no photo opportunities to be had from routine maintaince; or back slapping exercises in self aggrandisement. Having just visited the Park in order to take photos my efforts were in vain; the barriers running down the path on the Lionel Road North side have all been moved to form a double line running nowhere in particular into the middle. It seems someone has been busy at least. As both the PR departments of both LBH and LBE have a vested interest in these project, would it really be too much to ask them to run up a plan of the whole of Gunnersburuy Park, showing the actual areas which are going to be affected up by these various projects, if only temporarily ? Rather than the usual PR guff consisting solely of over-optimistic projections. michael adams |
