"accumulating personal wealth from their connections and roles." Isn't that par for the course, Joe? Those two stalwarts of the Labour movement, Kinnock and Blair, spring to mind. Having become leaders of their party, one led his party to defeat and the other became notorious for his chicanery, the results of which we are still living with. And yet both went on to found political and financial dynasties far removed from the lives of the common people who voted for them. The secret of success at the very top of politics seems to be a complete absence of embarrassment or shame, so Trump should do very well. |
