I had to chuckle at the factual error in the front page article about the proposed 32 storey building on the roundabout site having supposedly already been approved. Personally speaking, as I often say I really don't think it does the credibility of any individual or group any good when their quote is rather OTT as though the corridor is the development equivalent of the wild west. Yes to some extent developers and local societies will always be in conflict, but equally I can't think of a single major development in recent times where WC&GS have been anything other than vehement objectors, and as Carl says it does become rather tiresome and certainly isn't conducive to dialogue/consultation between the parties as part of the application process. Also, the point about air quality is rather lost on me, most developments these days don't provide much on-site parking (which usually attracts objections in itself) and the problems with air quality arise through unassociated traffic on the highway network - get rid of the A4 and the air quality would improve enormously. Not suggesting that we should, but let's not suggest it is the developments themselves that cause poor air quality. |
