| I agree. Let's find out why the collapse occurred first. The Evening Standard yesterday had an interesting comment from the developer: Construction company, Kram Developments claimed the collapse was due to extensive work done in the past on the building by other firms and the fact that it is old and has been left empty with no roof for some time. Director Mark Welsh said: “It['s] an old building that has had a lot done to it. It’s an unsafe structure. So yesterday we went in and as we put up scaffolding, part of the structure just came down. These old buildings just can’t take it.” That makes it sound as if they'd just arrived. But the hoarding shown on Street View from May this year has a Kram Developments sign on it. They'd been there for months, so should have known the risks, but continued to work on it. Was the scaffolding a vain attempt to stabilise an unsafe building? |
