I agree that the Best Before date should be banned.

It is perfectly legal to sell produce AFTER the Best Before date so long as it is fit to eat.

There are shops which only sell food with short life or past Best Before date.

You should have seen Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's recent programmes about the most terrible amount of food that is being wasted in this country whilst so many are having to use food banks as they don't have enough to eat.

Just be more careful with eggs and cook them thoroughly if they are past their Best Before date.  You can also try the sink or float method with eggs. You'll know if you crack a bad egg!
