Cyprus confirmed they would offer asylum to all who applied from the 118 that landed on sovereign soil, but only 6 have applied. The others want to be taken to Britain. If Britain accepts their demands and brings them here, that would open the route for thousands more to follow.Cameron has to refuse their demands or he will set a precedent for others to follow. We have immigration laws for sound reasons. Because someone has left a war zone and has now reached a safe country, they should not now be allowed to demand we ignore all those laws and accept them. They are now safe, have shelter, food and medical treatment. They are already in a much better place than the people they have left behind. They now have no god given right to demand to travel to Britain because they fancy living here.I fancied living in Australia sometime ago, but I didn't fit the criteria, so I couldn't go.I didn't set fire to my house and demonstrate on Chiswick high road.I accepted I couldn't go and just got on with things. Why do some people seek to destroy what they have been given, instead of showing a little gratitude. |
