I am not Scottish rugby's biggest fan, ever since Gavin Hastings and his whole squad turned up at the WC final at Twickenham in 1991 (England v Australia) sporting gold scarves. A blatant and crass anti-English act in my view. However, for Scotland to have been deprived of victory yesterday by referee Joubert's decision not to have referred that lineout calamity upstairs, instead awarding Australia a penalty was a disgrace. He also sinbinned Sean Lamont for an attempted interception. Jourbet has history in regards to southern hemisphere favouratism. I remember the WC Final 2011 between NZ and France which he refereed. Richie McCaw was allowed to enter rucks and mauls illegally all day long, and the ABs got away with at least three head high tackles without being penalised. France, like Scotland yesterday, felt cheated. I hope this man is now discarded from the international scene. |
