Rima, with regard to your posting on Savile, I suggest if you have not done so already, you try and read the book "In plain sight- the life and lies of Jimmy Savile" by Dan Davies. For me it is a very well researched and lengthy book (just over 500 pages) plus the writer had access to Savile across the latter part of his life as a journalist, so a lot more insight than just a typical "cut and paste job" biography. You will certainly see that Savile's actions were not a long time ago. Savile's use of the BBC facilities for his sexual activities continued across later years of "Jim'll fix it" and up to the last shows of "Top of the Pops" which he was brought back to appear on. Plus the behaviour of the senior BBC management once he was dead, especially around the axed Newsnight Report that tried to open up the debate was what I was specifically referring to in my posting and comments on senior BBC management. |
