Working as an agent in Central London knowing the length of the lease is crucial to assessing the asking price. They can vary from way over 100 years to just a handful in the same block. Unfortunately you would a foolish agent to rely on the owner to tell you as quite a few have little or no idea of their lease details. Where the owner cannot produce a copy of the lease an online check with Land Registry is the answer. To be fair to Foxtons, I have generally been impressed how thorough they normally are. It could be the subject property has not been registered although this is rare. |
