Thank you Jim. My late great Aunt Edith slept on the pavement on the night before the Coronation in order to get the best front line view of the procession - she said there was a fantastic camaraderie amongst what were total strangers - many bringing food, tea and blankets. I gather little sleep was had, for all the singing, laughing and excited expectation. And yes, I feel people had more respect in general in 'those' days... no doubt a sign of my approaching dotage. |
