The same arguments were used when the SAS shot dead three IRA members in Gibraltar in 1988 and, conspiracy theorists aside, we appear to have avoided descending into a police state rife with extra judicial killings in the subsequent 27 years. Those two men voluntarily left this country to join a barbaric organisation and take up arms against their country (amongst others) and whilst I have every sympathy for their families, I am not losing any sleep or shedding any tears for them.
