> If they left that runway there it could have been used for smaller aircraft or light load larger aircraft as it was shorter than the other two. Keeping the cross runway open wouldn't have increased the capacity of the airport. The clue is in the name, it crossed the other runways so when it was used it temporarily interrupted landings and takeoffs on those. |
