There will no place to build houses. Unless you go out to the slough area and beyond. The staff required to work there will be minimal as more services become automated. The staff required to operate the airport will be employed by private company's, who's staff will travel to the airport as they do now. It's quite common for someone working at the airport to travel between 30 to 50 miles to work, and sometimes a lot further. You have catering company’s who make there produce on site, what’s stopping theses company’s locating to cheaper locations and transporting their produce by road to a much smaller distribution unit at the airport If you rewind and go way back to research this this runway you will find (allegedly) a large strip of land is already owned by the Airport operator, that accommodate civil aircraft industry buildings that can me move quickly. Only Simpson stands in the way, and some residents have sold up and gone already. I don’t want to see another runway, but as this subject has gone on so long, If I were a airport operator I would be putting some serous ground work in order to get it built, while everyone had their eye off the ball waiting for the report, but that said, they might not be that clever. The Thousands of Jobs that the expansion will create, in my opinion a complete mith |
