I think ALL insurance premiums are a con, (see Sheila Hancock and car insurance this week) as a matter of fact I no longer insure my moggies, because most of the things they went to the vet for weren't covered anyway! When we lost our Lennie recently our vets (Animals Are Us) were brilliant, for everything including an individual cremation after he couldn't be saved, was just under £400. He was only eight and apart from a flea allergy he was never ill, so weigh the annual vaccinations etc. and that £400 against the premiums the insurers would charge and we were still money in I think. I do agree that knowing pets are insured just encourages a rise in fees, which then in turn encourages a rise in the premiums.
