Not all vets charge the same by any means.  I always have a new kitten tested for various contagious illnesses before I will bring it into my existing cat family and the cost of the blood tests vary enormously between vets.   Also having used various vets in the area over the years, some, while they may be fine as vets, are also money-making machines, while others who are at least as good at providing care and have at least the same, if not more expensive overheads and qualified staff, charge much more reasonable fees.   It is worth shopping around and also visiting a vet before you put your animsls with them.  If you feel happy with the equipment, procedures, and experience of the vet and the prices are not extortionate, that should be the vet you choose, at least until and unless you feel your animal would be better elsewhere.   There have been many threads on the forum with descriptions of vets that have been found good (and bad) and comments about pricing too, it is worth looking back at those.
