'I do not understand why you think that this Tower will be any more politically damaging than say the Kew Eye Tower on Ealing Road or the densely packed tower blocks that will surround the new Brentford Stadium' Because it is likely to be three times the height whereas the other buildings mentioned are not inconsistent with the heights of existing towers in the area. 'would it really be sensible to build a 44 storey building so close to Heathrow Airport even if it will have a large red light on top of it? ' Not sure if your concern is an accident or a terrorist incident. An accident seems a marginal concern - Kai Tak managed to be incident free despite planes having to weave through towers of this size. If you are concerned about a 9/11 style attack this again seems unlikely. Most planes will be making their landing approach as they pass this building which would mean any would be terrorists would have to gain control of the plane towards the end of the flight and remain undetected. The fuel tanks would be nearly empty which would mean the explosion would be less devastating than the ones in New York. |
