The adult education service unfortunately needs to make savings every year due to decreasing funding. This year, the decision was taken to stop holding all classes at Chiswick Community School on Monday nights due to the costs involved in hiring the building for two nights per week. However, the classes that used to run on Mondays from Chiswick Community School will continue to take place at other venues throughout the borough. Most of the four classes which were due to run on Mondays this term at Chiswick Community School have now been moved to Tuesdays at Chiswick Community School. However, there are already two pottery classes running at Chiswick Community School on Tuesdays, from 4.30 to 6.30pm and 6.30 to 9.30pm, and only one pottery room. The tutor of the Monday pottery class was offered the opportunity to run the same pottery class in Heston on a Wednesday night, where the school has pottery facilities. The adult education service also offered to investigate the use of Redlees Studios as a location for the class, but the tutor declined these options as she felt that they were not suitable. Hounslow Council will investigate further options for holding an additional pottery class in the borough.
