It seems to me that banging on about the Pope and child abuse is a convenient way of dodging the issue of the industrial scale level of the sexual abuse and exploitation of children that has been going on and continues in this country in our domestic care system.
Abuse in the Catholic Church is historic and generally took place in other countries. The number of children abused in South Yorkshire towns in the last decade exceeds by many times abuse allegations brought against members of the Catholic Church globally in the same period. As UK citizens we are ultimately to blame for this because we have failed to fund the system adequately. If you genuinely were concerned about children you would be raising that as an issue but I think your primary concern is to spread hatred.
As for the Pope's move to raise awareness of the issue of climate change, it should be applauded but you could argue that he is part of the problem not part of the solution as ultimately population control may be the only way to deal with the issue. |
