However it is hardly the case that everyone visiting the market will be eating at the Pho stall and surely Ngon can benefit from the increased footfall outside their doorstep? It may be difficult with a one-off or infrequent event, but if the market was a regular occurrence I can't see any reason why progressive local businesses can't figure out ways to exploit increased numbers of visitors, even if they don't have a stall. It would be interesting to hear from Ngon how the street market, Pho stall and all, affected their usual business but I think I'd rather have more rather than less punters outside a shop. How to attract them in is up to the shop. |
